F A Q

you asked, we answered . . .

Does waxing hurt?

There is generally some discomfort with waxing. But, it is a quick, temporary sting that stops hurting right away and believe us when we say that the anticipation is much worse than the actual wax! It tends to hurt more the first time than any other time because your nerves are on edge and you don’t know what to expect. The pain does lessen if you keep up with waxing because after the first wax the hair typically grows back finer and more sparse, becomes less prickly, and the skin retains its smoothness much longer.

How long do I have to let my hair grow?

We recommend at least 3-4 weeks of growth or 1/4- 1/2", whichever comes first, ESPECIALLY when it’s your first wax. If the hair is too short, the wax will not be effective at removing it so this is a good rule of thumb to follow. In general, the more hair we can remove, the better the wax, the longer it will last, & the happier you will be!

How long with it take for my hair to grow back?

The results may last between 2-6 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. As you receive regular waxing, the hair will continue to be more sparse and the waxing itself will hurt less.

Does Into Skin double dip?

Absolutely not! While double-dipping may be a common practice at many other salons, our waxing sticks are dipped into the wax once, applied to the client once, and then discarded. At Into Skin, sanitation is our top priority.

Are there any reason I should not be waxed?

You should not receive any facial waxing if you are using the following products: Retin A, Renova, Differin. If you are on Accutane, we will not wax you and it is not recommended to be waxed for at least a year after you have stopped using it. In addition, if you have been or plan to be out in the sun within 24-48 hours before or after an appointment, you should not be waxed. If you are sunburned in the area you want waxed, we will not wax you.

*Certain scenarios may arise where it may not be a good idea to wax, above and beyond the things previously mentioned and in such cases your esthetician will discuss the circumstances with you.

Please know that if you are not being waxed for any reason it is only because we have your best interest at heart!
